Digimon Adventure (デジモンアドベンチャー,Dejimon Adobenchā) is a 1999 Japanese anime television series created by Hongō Akiyoshi, and produced by Toei Animation in cooperation with WiZ, Bandai and Fuji TV. It is the first anime series in the Digimon media franchise, based on the Digital Monster virtual pet. The series aired in Japan from March 7, 1999 to March 26, 2000 for 54 episodes.

It was released after the 1999 short film titled Digimon Adventure was released in theaters on March 6, 1999. Later the series was followed by a television series, which It was followed by a film sequel titled Digimon Adventure: Our War Game! and a continuation series called Digimon Adventure 02.

The Series got retold in a video game adaptation that was released for PlayStation Portable on January 17, 2013.

Summary[]

On August 1st, 1999, seven children in a summer camp witness an abnormal aurora that should not be seen in Japan. The mysterious power that flew from the aurora sucked Taichi and his friends into another world - the Digital World. In this world, strange creatures were waiting for the children in anticipation. They call themselves Digimon - Digital Monsters. The children and their Partner Digimon go through many battles, evolutions and discoveries as they explore this strange new world.

In the first part of the series the children focus on exploring and surviving in the Digital World as they encounter Evil Digimon, and Black Gears. Finally after defeating Devimon, the digimon behind the Black Gears, they meet Gennai, who sends them to a new mission to save the Digital World and find their tags and crests in order to help their digimon evolve to the next level.

In a new continent each of the Chosen Children finds their crest and they all fight Etemon, the evil digimon of Server Continent. Duing that time they discover new things about the Digital World, and with the first Super Evolution, they defeat Etemon. However, Tai and Koromon are sent back to the Real World and the group starts to break up.

After Taichi finds his way back to the Digital World he begins to reunite the Chosen Children and they find their new enemy to be Vamdemon, who goes to the Real World in order to find the eight Chosen Child and their digimon. The children follow him back home and find that time has barely moved sice they had left. After a long search and many battles in Japan, the children find that the new Chosen Child is Taichi’s younger sister, Hikari, whole her partner is Tailmon who was one of Vamdemon’s allies. After finding Hikari’s digivice and crest, Tailmon evolves and defeats Vamdemon. However, he returns even stronger and Taichi and Yamato’s digimon, Agumon and Gabumon, mange to evolve to their ultimate form and defeat him.

Later the children discover that the Digital World is in trouble once more, and it affects the Real World, so they choose to return and save it. There they ecounter the Dark Masters who took control over the Digital World while they were away. After managing to defeat all of them they meet their final enemy, Apocalymon, who almost manages to defeat them and destroys their tags. However, the children manage to overcome this challenge as they realize that the power of their crests is still inside them, and they defeat Apocalymon.

After their victory, Gennai tells the children that they must return to the real world, as the gate is about to be closed. And so, the Chosen Children say goodbye to their partner digimon, not knowing when they will be able to meet again.
